After Florida Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost revealed on Saturday that he was the victim of a racially motivated assault in Park City the night before, several of his fellow politicians have offered support and lamented a culture of anti-immigrant rhetoric that spurred the assault.
Among those who took to X included Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who wrote, “I’m so grateful that @MaxwellFrost is ok, but this kind of violence is encouraged and inflamed by the violent and anti-immigrant, anti-Black rhetoric and action perpetrated by Trump and other Administration officials. This has to stop.”

Frost confirmed he was the victim of the attack on X, writing, “Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.”
He later added on X, “I am okay. Thank you for all the well wishes. We are in scary times. Please stay sae and do not let these people silence you. Onwards.”
As reported by Variety, Frost was at Park City’s High West Saloon attending CAA‘s Sundance Film Festival party when the assault took place. The Caucasian perpetrator was detained and then arrested. His identity has not been revealed yet.
The Sundance Film Festival released a statement condemning the violence, saying, “We strongly condemn last night’s assault and abhor any form of violence, harassment, and hate speech.”
